Level Up Professional Development

Support Artists

Support Artists are the heartbeat of WEYA. They are what set us apart in the arts industry. Each year we employ 12-15 emerging artists aged 18-30 to assist with the delivery of our core program. They bring a vibrancy, energy and creativity to our training rooms, connecting with students, young artists, and the community. All while developing their own artistic and leadership skills through on-the-job experience and mentorship from Lead Actors and Artistic Directors.

Level Up Professional Development

Collective-In-Training is a free, three-year program for young and emerging artists who are serious about exploring a professional future in the arts industry. Every two years a cohort of artists who have been participating in our Community Youth Theatre programs are welcomed into the intensive training course.

Over three years the Collective is guided by Western Edge’s lead artists and Artistic Directors, as well as a cohort of industry professionals to develop their artistic practice, grow as leaders and gain vital skills to help navigate the industry as a professional.

Building an Ensemble

Over the course period each Collective begins to work together as an ensemble, culminating in the creation, production and delivery of a professional production in partnership with major arts organisations.

Sub30 Collective

The Sub30 Collective are the very first ensemble to have participated in, and now graduated from Western Edge’s Level Up Professional Development training program.
