Joanna Lee

Joanna (she/they) is a Taiwanese-Australian writer, translator and arts worker. Before Western Edge, Joanna was based in her hometown of Taipei, where she freelanced in journalism, teaching and Chinese-to-English translation, specialising in exhibition texts and art publications.

She has been published in Time Out Melbourne, ArtsHub and Euroview. In 2022, she translated the book “Tropical Reading: Photobook and Self-Publishing” by Fotobook DUMMIES Day. As a marketer, they previously worked at Melbourne Writers Festival and the Museum of Chinese Australian History, and is the current Head of Marketing at Almost, a social media-first news outlet for young people.

Joanna is passionate about the Asia-Pacific region, and explorations of online culture and concepts of national and cultural identity.
