Open Stage

Our community spoke, and we listened. Open Stage is the new space for gathering and celebrating togetherness through art.

Open Stage is not your average open mic night – it’s a program of quarterly events blending music and poetry, performance, storytelling, and food, and a safe space for our community to come together to celebrate creative expression.

Four events will be happening throughout locations in the West in 2024.

What Sets Us Apart?

Each Open Stage event is curated by a young producer from the vibrant West-based community. They program the events in line with their own specific practice and communities across the Western suburbs.

Open Stage: Radical Presence, curated by Akwal Magek

Step into a transformative evening of poetry and performance, and the radical act of being and existing in the present – and with one another.

Curated by spoken word artist Akwal Magek, alongside a line-up of artists including Rhoda Makur, Kudakwashe, Jag, navera ari and more, join us in championing authenticity, creativity and inclusion, for one night only. After the successful debut of Open Stage: Muses, this is Western Edge’s second event in the Open Stage series, as part of our new platform for gathering and celebrating togetherness through art.
