Scheherazade

Scheherazade

Performed by Uprising Theatre, Phoenix Youth Theatre, North Geelong Youth Theatre and the Edge Ensemble and presented in partnership with Footscray Community Art Centre, at the Footscray Community Arts Centre from 4 to 6 December 2014.

Scheherazade was a unique interactive installation performance that took audiences on an unforgettable journey.

In the haunted warehouse by the river, a gangsta known as ‘The Man’ married a new wife every month only to then kill her so she could never be unfaithful to him. In this retelling of the classic Persian tale, a modern day Scheherazade sorted out this monster-man once and for all – with a bustling brave audience, right behind her.

‘…a very complex series of interweaving stories underlining the serious theme of violence towards women… great inventiveness and ingenuity… intensity of performance…’ – Melbourne Observer
