Community Youth Theatre Projects

There are many ways to step into the world of youth-led theatre, by becoming a member of one of our active youth theatre ensembles. You might already have a passion for theatre, or maybe you’re not sure and you just want to try it out. Read on to find out how you can get involved.

Current Community Youth Theatre Projects

  • North Geelong Edge

    North Geelong Edge is a group of young people from different cultural backgrounds who are preparing a new street performance for Geelong After Dark in May. The work will be based on original stories of the group.

    Led by professional theatre director, Dave Kelman, along with other skilled young emerging artists from the Geelong Edge Ensemble, who will guide you through theatre devising workshops each week. A fun opportunity to develop language skills and connect with young people from other cultural communities.

    Ages: 16 – 25

  • St Albans Edge

    A free community youth theatre project for young people in St Albans. Meet new people, develop theatre skills, build your confidence and create new work that will be performed at the end of the year.

    Led by professional theatre director, Penny Harpham, along with other artists who will guide you through theatre devising workshops each week.

    Ages: 14-25
    When: Weekly, from April to November (Dates TBC)

  • Wyndham Edge

    A theatre group for young people living in the city of Wyndham. This ensemble makes high quality art that explores what it means to be young. Devise, write and perform in contemporary performances.

    Be part of a structured and fun creative process of improvisations, games and theatre led by professional artists, along with other supporting artists. Step into leadership roles, find a place for yourself and a way to tackle issues that you care about.

  • Footscray Edge

    A theatre group for young people aged 16 to 25, living in the city of Maribyrnong. The group makes engaging and important art that explores cultures, traditions and what it means to be a young person. Devise, write and perform in a contemporary performance later this year, involving different art forms and new media.

    Led by Penny Harpham and other skilled artists, the weekly workshops delve into creative and fun theatre processes. Step into leadership roles and share in the decision-making. Find a place for yourself and a way to tackle the big issues in your community.
